On 22 August we held a Daffodil Day Morning Tea at IAS to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer research and services. We will continue to support this important cause into the future.

This year, I’ve chosen to support funding for Ovarian Cancer in memory of Jean, a dear family friend of ours, who sadly lost her battle with the disease.

We held our first Daffodil Day Morning Tea at IAS on 22 August, as part of the Do It For Cancer community to support Cancer Council and raise funds for those affected by cancer. We were proud to raise $740 while enjoying a catch up over tea, coffee and cake and our efforts to support this important cause will not end there.

Jean’s story

Jean fought bravely against Ovarian Cancer and lost her battle at the end of June of this year. The challenge was that for over 18 months Jean knew that there was something wrong, and she was feeling really bad, but no doctor or specialist could seem to find an issue until it was too late.

There are so many charities out there who give to Breast Cancer and other cancers; however, there are few who are giving to Ovarian Cancer, and this is such a difficult disease to diagnose that we need a much better early diagnosis tool!

We’re choosing to support this cause in memory of Jean but it’s also for all women out there, especially as they get older, as it’s something that really needs more funding.

Please sponsor me and support my efforts to give back and change lives. As a community funded organisation, every dollar raised will help Cancer Council continue to fund critical research, develop prevention programs, and provide information and support to all those affected by cancer.
